Sumit Arora, the Managing Director of Indo European Foods (IEF), a wholly owned subsidiary, joined the business in UK in 2004 and today IEF is one of the leading ethnic food suppliers to the UK grocery trade while also making its mark on mainstream foods.
After pursuing his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Pepperdine University in USA, Sumit joined Nestle in Glendale California and trained in the Maggi World Foods division tackling issues such as imports and grey markets before moving to Morgan Stanley as a financial analyst. He then joined Kohinoor Foods US operations in 2001 where he set up the New Jersey regional office and was primarily involved with the Sales & Marketing departments and gradually rose from the ranks to assume Senior Management responsibility making key decisions to spearhead growth strategy. After spending 3 years playing a pivotal role in establishing Kohinoor Food’s presence in the US, Sumit moved on to his next challenge of setting up a world class manufacturing unit and increasing distribution in the European continent.
Under Sumit’s leadership as the Managing Director of IEF since 2004, the business has been growing steadily with our flagship brand Kohinoor being firmly established as leading basmati dry rice brand in UK grocery multiples (Source: IRI, 52 w/e 26 April, 2014 IRI Value & Volume Sales in Major Multiples for sizes 5kg and above). From Basmati Rice to Ready to Heat Meals, Cooking Sauces & Indian Savouries, IEF continues to grow and now serves world leading retailers like Tesco, ASDA (Walmart), Morrisons and Sainsbury’s. IEF has constantly been innovating its business model and product portfolios to gain leadership position in the categories it operates in.
