Our Facility

What does it take to produce the basmati rice that earns a place in kitchens across the world? The answer is simple – our rice processing plants bring out the best in every harvest.

The journey of Kohinoor Foods Ltd. starts at Murthal, Haryana, which is one of the largest and most advanced in the country.

With a milling capacity of 50 metric tonnes per hour, the plant helps with scaling and ensuring precision and consistency. The entire chain of processing and packaging is completely automated and aligned with global standards, using the world’s best technologies and equipment. Thus, offering rice that can only be described as “impeccable.”

The rice plant is ISO 9001:2000, HACCP and BRC certified, along with being EUFSA and USFDA compliant. Paddy is sourced through a carefully managed, science-led procurement system. The company has contract farming to ensure consistency of agri produce and control on the entire value chain of basmati.

The Work Behind the Organic, Rich Basmati Rice

Kohinoor Foods Limited does the procurement of paddy in a very scientific way, with a lot of research work behind it. Before basmati rice reaches your kitchen, the quality is controlled from the very start. The company gives the farmers all the help they need in bringing up their crop with good vigor and health, under a government-supported initiative.

R&D teams regularly visit the farms, monitor crop health, and advise the farmers on the status of their crop and remedies for diseases, if any. This is done right from sowing so that the grain develops in full length, aroma, and texture.

Before the harvesting, paddy from every region is sampled and tested under various parameters. Only the zones that meet the quality standard are selected for the procurement. Once the paddy is received, it is stored in a controlled atmosphere with tight pest control measures.

What’s more? Kohinoor Foods Limited maintains full traceability of the basmati rice packed under Kohinoor’s name. Each batch is tracked with a special identification code, so that it can be traced back to its origin.

The Specialized Facility for Organic Produce

Today, consumers are turning towards cleaner and more conscious food choices. Seeing this shift, Kohinoor Foods Limited works directly with farmers in Dehradun, India – one of the places where basmati rice originated. The aim is to grow organic basmati rice and preserve its texture and signature fragrance.

In collaboration with the Government of India, Uttarakhand, the company launched its ‘Organic Basmati Program’. The focus for the collaboration is to nurture the grain without altering its nature.

Kohinoor Foods Limited has contracts with 8 large farmer groups, comprising a total of 1128 farmers. What started across 110 hectares in 2005 has expanded today to around 750 hectares. The aim is to reach a target of 1200 hectares soon.

The Initiative for Fair Trade

With the hardworking farmers in mind, Kohinoor Foods Limited is working towards a fair-trade initiative that supports farmers with stable pricing. The idea is to uplift the social and economic status of the farmers in India. The ‘Fair Trade’ would involve contract farming, wherein the produce of those farmers would be procured at a very good price.
