Our Facility

What does it take to produce the basmati rice that earns a place in kitchens across the world? The answer is simple—our rice processing plants bring out the best in every harvest.

The journey of Kohinoor Foods Ltd. begins at Murthal, Haryana, home to one of the largest and most advanced rice processing facilities in the country.

With a milling capacity of 50 metric tonnes per hour, the plant is designed to deliver both scale and precision while ensuring consistent quality. The entire processing and packaging chain is fully automated and aligned with global standards, using some of the world’s most advanced technologies and equipment to deliver rice of exceptional quality.

The rice processing facility is ISO 9001:2000, HACCP, and BRC certified, and is also compliant with EUFSA and US FDA standards. Paddy is sourced through a carefully managed, science-led procurement system. The company also follows a contract farming model to ensure the consistency of agricultural produce and maintain control across the entire basmati value chain.

Before harvest, samples from different regions are tested against strict quality parameters, and only those that meet the required standards move forward. Every stage of the process is tracked, documented, and assigned a unique identification code, ensuring 100% traceability in accordance with international standards.

The Work Behind the Organic, Rich Basmati Rice

Kohinoor Foods Limited follows a scientific and research-driven approach to paddy procurement. Long before basmati rice reaches your kitchen, quality is carefully monitored at every stage of the process. Through government-supported initiatives, the company provides farmers with the guidance and support they need to cultivate healthy, high-quality crops.

The R&D teams regularly visit farms to monitor crop health and advise farmers on crop conditions and appropriate disease management, where required. This support begins at the sowing stage, helping the grain develop its full length, aroma, and texture.

Before harvest, paddy from different regions is sampled and tested against stringent quality parameters. Only the regions that meet the required quality standards are selected for procurement. Once received, the paddy is stored in a controlled environment with strict pest control measures in place.

What’s more, Kohinoor Foods Limited maintains complete traceability for every batch of basmati rice packed under the Kohinoor name. Each batch is assigned a unique identification code, allowing it to be traced back to its origin.

The Specialized Facility for Organic Produce

Today, consumers are increasingly choosing cleaner and more conscious food options. Recognising this shift, Kohinoor Foods Limited works directly with farmers in Dehradun, India, one of the regions where basmati rice originated. The aim is to cultivate organic basmati rice while preserving its natural texture and signature fragrance.

In collaboration with the Government of Uttarakhand, with support from the Government of India, the company launched its Organic Basmati Programme. The initiative focuses on nurturing the grain without altering its natural characteristics.

Kohinoor Foods Limited partners with eight large farmer groups, comprising a total of 1,128 farmers. What began across 110 hectares in 2005 has now expanded to approximately 750 hectares, with a target of reaching 1,200 hectares in the near future.

We also customise products to meet your branding and quality requirements. Whether you require customised packaging or ingredient selection, our team is here to help.

The Initiative for Fair Trade

With hardworking farmers at its heart, Kohinoor Foods Limited is committed to supporting fair trade initiatives that provide farmers with stable pricing. The aim is to improve the social and economic well-being of farming communities across India.

The Fair Trade initiative is based on a contract farming model, under which farmers’ produce is procured at fair and competitive prices, helping to create a more sustainable and mutually beneficial partnership.
