Monsoon Extra Long Basmati Rice

Long Elegant Grains With Rich, Natural Aroma and Soul-Pleasing Palate

Monsoon Extra Long Basmati Rice is popular for its fine aroma, length, and the way it lifts everyday and celebratory meals alike. Sourced from the Himalayan foothills, this rice is naturally aged for 2 years, a step often cited for helping the grains cook up light, separate, and fluffy rather than heavy or sticky.

Kohinoor’s Monsoon range also describes its Extra Long Basmati Rice as specially graded for extra length and matured for dishes such as pulao and biryani.

As it cooks, the aroma begins to open up gently, and once served, the grains stay long, slender, and distinct on the plate. That makes it a strong choice for recipes where the rice needs to absorb spices well without clumping. The result is a dish that feels lighter, more polished, exquisite in taste and more satisfying to savour.

Soak the rice for 20-30 minutes for better results. Once the rice turns slightly longer in size, opt for either of the three methods to cooking:

Open Pot

  • Add the rice to boiling water and cook on medium heat for around 10 minutes.
  • Once done, drain the water and run hot water over the rice.

Closed

  • Combine 1 measure of rice and 1¾ measures of water in a heavy bottomed vessel, and cover it with the lid.
  • Cook on low heat.
  • Once the rice softens, allow it to cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Microwave

  • Mix water and rice to the ratio of 1¾:1 in a microwave-safe bowl.
  • Cover the bowl with a cling film and cook for 6 minutes.

Note: For microwave, it is recommended to cook only 300g of rice at a time.
