Monsoon Extra Long Basmati Rice

Long, Elegant Grains with a Rich, Natural Aroma and an Exceptionally Satisfying Taste

Monsoon Extra Long Basmati Rice is renowned for its fine aroma, exceptional grain length, and the way it enhances both everyday meals and celebratory dishes. Sourced from the Himalayan foothills, the rice is naturally aged for 2 years, allowing it to cook into light, separate and fluffy grains rather than becoming heavy or sticky.

Monsoon Extra Long Basmati Rice is specially graded for exceptional grain length and carefully matured, making it ideal for dishes such as pulao and biryani.

As it cooks, the aroma develops gradually, while the grains remain long, slender and separate on the plate. This makes it an excellent choice for recipes that require the rice to absorb rich spices while maintaining its distinct texture. The result is a dish that feels lighter, more refined, and exceptionally satisfying.

For best results, soak the rice for 20–30 minutes before cooking. Once the grains have absorbed some water and slightly lengthened, prepare the rice using any of the following methods:

Open Pot

  • Add the rice to boiling water and cook over medium heat for approximately 10 minutes.
  • Once cooked, drain the water and rinse the rice with hot water.

Closed Pot

  • Add 1 measure of rice to 1¾ measures of water in a heavy-bottomed pan.
  • Cover with a lid and cook over low heat until the rice is fully cooked.
  • Allow the rice to rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Microwave

  • Mix the rice and water in a 1:1¾ ratio in a deep microwave-safe bowl.
  • Cover with microwave-safe cling film and cook on High for 6 minutes.

Note: For best results, cook only 300 g of rice at a time in the microwave.
